The bathing boat is being prepared for the season!

OF
April 28, 2025

Previously, we wrote about the project to establish a new bathing boat route, and now the boat has been purchased, in place in Risør, and approved for operation in 2025!

MB Langøy - "Kvikk II" is the original name and will be exchanged back if the purchase is confirmed

On Friday, November 1, the boat arrived at Indrehavn, and docked at Danielsens Trapper, to the great joy of many. Mona Rhein, general manager of Risør City, was among those who welcomed the boat – and described the day as important both for the city and for those who visit Risør.

The work continues: New fleets, skippers and route planning

New life rafts are already under production, and active efforts are being made to recruit skippers who can sail "Kvikk II". At the same time, work is underway to determine the final routes for the season. The plan is for the boat to offer regular departures to places such as Stangholmen and other popular islands in the archipelago, in addition to theme trips and charter trips.

The boat will be centrally located at the pier in Strandgata until the summer. Work is also underway to find a permanent pick-up point for passengers in the city center when scheduled service begins.

About "Quick II"
"Kvikk II" was built in 1951 by K. Christensen & Co Moens Båtbyggeri in Hammeråker. The boat is 36 feet long, 4.20 meters wide and 1.70 meters deep, with a capacity for 48 passengers.

She previously had the name "Langøy", but will now be given back her original name "Kvikk II", which many in Risør know well from before.

Would you like to contribute?

To ensure operations, a friends' association is now being established where both the social and practical work surrounding the boat is in focus.
If you would like to join us, either as a volunteer or with special expertise, please get in touch. This is a unique opportunity to help preserve and further develop an important part of Risør's coastal culture.

We are very much looking forward to inviting both permanent residents and guests aboard "Kvikk II" when summer comes!
