On Saturday, October 5, the center of Risør was filled with life and excitement during the autumn market at Torvet, where both locals and visitors enjoyed a day full of activities, food and market stalls.
Initiator Janna Awa Gillen, who got the idea for the market after seeing a picture of herself from her childhood selling sausages in the square, wanted to create a similar experience that could bring people together and create community.
The market offered everything from locally sourced food to second-hand clothes and handmade products. Marit Fiskebekk from Gjerstad participated with goods from her farm, including beef and vegetables. Fiskebekk appreciated the initiative and hoped the market could become a permanent tradition. "Local food really catches on," she said, as visitors eagerly shopped for her goods.
Many also stopped by Kenza to sample the store's selection of delicious gourmet products.
For the youngest, a fishing competition was organized by Ths Juells Eftf , where the children received free bait and competed to catch the biggest fish. The winner, Thea Lerpold, took home a new fishing rod as a prize.
In the evening the festivities continued with two sold-out concerts in Risør. The beach in Risør was filled with music from Knut Hem and Arve Bøe , who delivered an atmospheric concert with their unique combination of roots and Americana. Later in the evening Dis played at Park Café Risør , where Andreas Eriksen and Maria Hansen gave the audience an unforgettable musical experience with their mix of jazz, pop and soul.
With life and activity both during the day and in the evening, the autumn market was a great success, and we hope this will become a regular event in Risør every year.
