Electric opera on the beach
Electric guitar meets opera, father meets son.
A unique musical composition in this trio that saw the light of day for the first time in Frogner Church in Lier in October 2022 to a packed house. This is something Bent and Simen have been talking about doing since Simen embarked on an opera career. People were clearly curious about whether this could work, with electric guitar, opera and piano. And it certainly did. Stomping on the drum in church is not an everyday occurrence. The trio performs lieder and opera arias in addition to pure instrumental pieces. When the concert date is in December, a Christmas carol is also not out of the question.
Bent Bredesen was a musical driving force in Jonas Fjeld Band for 15 years, from 1975 to 1990. The strong-willed and legendary guitarist has contributed both as guitarist and producer to a number of album releases, and has served in a number of bands since then. The latest addition to the series is the exciting project Lier Gitarkvartett with Knut Ingolf Brenna, Håvard Caspersen and Frode Kjekstad. He has released 3 solo albums, "Brede" in 1981 and "det faller regn" in 2003. In 2015, the instrumental album "Doggerland" was released. The Drammens Tidende reviewer gave the album a 6 and Bent is currently working on a sequel to this.
Simen Bredesen is a Norwegian opera singer who began his studies in classical singing at the Grieg Academy in Bergen. He then completed a one-year program and a master's degree at the Oslo National Academy of Opera, graduating in spring 2021. During the 2021/2022 and 2022/2023 seasons, he is employed as a soloist trainee at the Norwegian National Opera and Ballet, where he made his debut as John Styx in "Orpheus in the Underworld" in December 2021.
During his first seasons at the Norwegian Opera and Ballet, Simen has also played roles such as Howard Boucher in "Dead Man Walking", Pierre in "Ingenting", Dancaïro in "Carmen", Junger Diener in "Elektra" and Spoletta in "Tosca". Simen has a diverse repertoire and is also a sought-after concert singer.

How thin, long and difficult is it possible to turn wood? Vidar Iversen shows, through his objects and sculptures in wood, that little is impossible when he uncompromisingly follows an idea - and at the same time masters the craft. The exhibition opens at the same time as the Wooden Boat Festival, and makes Galleri Kunstparken even more relevant for wood lovers.
