Meet author Guri Idsø Viken in conversation with Mari Nymoen about her new book Krakk.Litteraturrommet Tuesday March 4th at 7:00 PM
Arendal, 1885. The sailing ships unload goods in the harbor. The crystal chandeliers are polished to a shine. The bourgeoisie is looking forward to the annual masquerade ball. The rich heir Axel Herlofson has built an empire as a bank manager and shipowner and owns half of the businesses in the city. For the people of Arendal, he is the path to prosperity. His addiction to opium, gambling and younger men is not as well known.
Old ideals give way to new ideas. The best families turn out to be the worst, and no one knows the truth about each other. Krakk is a magnificent novel about love, betrayal and class struggle, based on the true story of the fraud that changed Norway.
Guri Idsø Viken lives on Sandøya in Tvedestrand, is a literary scholar, journalist, public debater and political advisor to Frivillighet Norge.
Mari Nymoen is a literary scholar and festival director/artistic director for the Ibsen and Hamsundagene Festival in Grimstad.
Organizer: Lindstøls Bookstore and Risør Library. There will be a book sale and signing.

CHANGES part 3
How thin, long and difficult is it possible to turn wood? Vidar Iversen shows, through his objects and sculptures in wood, that little is impossible when he uncompromisingly follows an idea - and at the same time masters the craft. The exhibition opens at the same time as the Wooden Boat Festival, and makes Galleri Kunstparken even more relevant for wood lovers.

If safety is not found at home or out there, where do you go?
"Word for blood" is a true story, an inside report from the little sister of Sweden's most dangerous gang leader. It is a painful and honest story about being human and female and ending up in the middle of a deadly gang showdown - in a world where adults are not present. Faysa's closest friends and family members are on opposite sides of the gang war. She no longer has a record of how many she has lost. Now she tells her story.
The National Theatre and the Norwegian Theatre are creating a play based on Faysa Idle's hotly-anticipated book, "A Word for Blood". Her story concerns us all, regardless of who we are or where we live. Perhaps Faysa's story can open up conversations about how we can create a society where we take better care of each other?
--Said about the book:
"Faysa Idle tells her story powerfully and honestly
Business News
"A story that tears at the heart and gives you chills"
Gyldendal Norwegian Publishing House
--Performance length: 1 hour 20 minutes (no intermission).
