The bathing boat dream is almost complete - "Kvikk II" back in Risør!

OF
October 28, 2024

Previously we wrote about the project to establish a new bathing boat route, and now the boat is finally back in Risør! If all goes according to plan, "Kvikk II" will become a regular sight in the town and the archipelago next year.

MB Langøy - "Kvikk II" is the original name and will be exchanged back if the purchase is confirmed

The boat is now at Risør Trebåtbyggeri where it is undergoing a thorough check, including investigations of the hull below the waterline at Skomakerskjær. Financing for the purchase is already in place, and if the condition report is positive, the plan is to purchase the boat and organize operations to offer regular routes to Stangholmen and other places in the archipelago during the season, as well as charter trips and fjord cruises.

Deputy chairman of the coastal association, John A. Andersen, tells Aust Agder Blad that they have agreed on a price, and that the deal will go through if the boat is in satisfactory condition. Andersen also emphasizes that when the boat returns to Risør, it is necessary to organize a company for its operation, as the coastal association itself does not have the capacity to operate the boat in addition to everything else they do.

The boat's interior

"Kvikk II" was built in 1951 and is part of Risør's maritime history. With space for 48 passengers, the boat can be a fantastic opportunity for both residents and visitors to experience the Risør archipelago from the sea. Andersen hopes that the municipality, local businesses, and private individuals will get involved to ensure that "Kvikk II" becomes part of Risør's offer to both tourists and residents. The county council also partially supports the operation financially, which gives the project extra security.

We encourage anyone who would like to contribute to this initiative, either as a partner or through involvement in the operating company, to contact Mona Rhein , general manager of Risør By. This is a great opportunity to help strengthen coastal culture and give both tourists and residents a unique experience.

We are looking forward to it!
