Welcome to the Handicraft Festival 2025!

Welcome to a weekend filled with creative joy, crafts and inspiration in the heart of Risør!


The Handicraft Festival brings together courses, lectures, exhibitions and meeting places for everyone who likes to create with their hands – whether you are a beginner or experienced.

The festival opens on Friday evening and lasts the entire weekend, with a varied program and many exciting exhibitors.

It all takes place in and around Risør's historic center – from Risørhuset and the Town Hall to Park Café, the Kunstparken and Galleri Nylund Larsen.

Friday, October 17

  • 6:00 PM, City Hall: Opening of the festival
  • 8:00 PM, Park Café: Sing & Knit with Strijke-Terje

Saturday, October 18

  • 10:00 AM, Risørhuset: Learn Sashiko with textile artist Eva Kittelsen
  • 10:00 AM, City Hall: Crochet granny squares with Benthe Kvernvik Paulsen
  • 10:00 AM, Volunteer Center: Sew a jacket from a wool blanket with Badeler
  • 12:00, Kunstparken: Knit & Lunch – an informal and social knitting session
  • 2:00 PM, Risørhuset: Knit mittens in thick yarn with exciting structures
  • 2:00 PM, Risør Hotel: Hand sewing with Tanja Andreeva
  • 14:00, Town Hall: Embroidery course with Plants on People
  • 6:00 PM, Risørhuset: Lecture with Annemor Sundbø and Eva Kittelsen

Sunday, October 19

  • 10:00 AM: Guerrilla embroidery course
  • 10:00 AM: Ceramics workshop with Trine Reinfjell
  • 11:00: Drawing workshop with Cathrine Calmeyer Østvold
  • 12:00, Galleri Nylund Larsen: Make a storage folder from an old book
  • 12:00, Park Café: Fixing guild with Gjerstad Handicrafts Association

Exhibitors and course providers

At the Town Hall and at several locations around the city, you will meet exhibitors, artists and craftsmen from all over the country. Here you can be inspired, learn something new and buy quality materials and handmade products.
